The La Grange High School cross country team turned in impressive individual and team performances on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Bastrop High School Invitational. The Leopards and Lady Leps faced off against Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Smithville and a strong contingent of Austin-area schools. Varsity and JV Girls Both Earn Podium Finishes LG Varsity Girls secured a second-place overall team finish, trailing only Austin LASA. Junior Lilian Carey paced the Lady Leps, crossing the finish line of the 5K course in 21:13 to take 6th place overall. The next five LG Varsity girls finished tightly packed between 19th and 31st place overall to lock in the runner-up finish: Saleen Posey, Annabelle Zoch, Paisley Greenwood, Emery Blashke and Allie Hutchins. In the 2-mile JV race, LG JV Girls claimed third place overall as a team. Lacee Surman led the pack with an outstanding 1st-place individual finish, followed closely by teammates Charlotte Scarborough in 4th and Mattie Muzny in 7th. A number of Lady Leps recorded personal best times during the meet. Varsity and JV Boys Build Momentum The Varsity boys exhibited the team’s potential with an impressive performance on the 5K course. Senior Dilon Barron led the team with a 32nd-place finish, clocking a time of 18:50. He was followed by a tight pack of LG runners comprised of Jacob Estrada, Haygen Mings and Roan Wilrich (who finished between 39th and 44th overall with times ranging from 19:21 to 19:32). The LG JV Boys displayed grit in their 5K run, led by Rudy Lopez, who crossed the line in 21:30 to take 22nd overall. A.J. Hutchins was next to cross the line for the Leopards. Up Next La Grange Cross Country returns to competition on Saturday, September 12, 2026, when they travel to the 38th Annual Moulton Cross Country Meet.
