STATE DREAMS TURN REALITY FOR LA GRANGE SWIM RELAY
History has been made! The La Grange Leopards girls’ 200 freestyle relay team has officially punched their ticket to the state swim meet, becoming the first relay team in school history to qualify. Their remarkable achievement also marks just the second time in program history that a La Grange swimmer has reached the state level.
The record-breaking relay team, consisting of freshmen Adysen Janacek and Paige Michalke, junior Eleanor Carey, and senior Celeine Fabre, delivered an electrifying performance at regionals, where they shattered their own school record twice over the two-day meet. Their incredible speed and determination secured them a spot among the fastest teams in Texas, proving that hard work and perseverance paid off.
“This is a truly special moment for these girls and for our program,” said Coach Gretchen Ledwik. “To be the first relay team in school history to make it to state is an incredible accomplishment. They’ve worked so hard, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
With the entire La Grange community cheering them on, the Leopards are now focused on making an impact at the state championships, set to take place on February 13-14 at Josh Davis and Bill Walker Natatorium in San Antonio. As they prepare for their biggest race yet, they are ready to continue rewriting the record books and represent La Grange with pride.
